You can get bored of miracles, you can lose your delight in life and the beauty of nature around you. But if you look to Jesus you can’t help but be fascinated. Your heart becomes tender as you see the tenderness and love of his heart. Your selfishness is seen as ugly as it is in light of Jesus but it just melts away because only selfless love makes sense in the light of Jesus’ glory.

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Cor 4:4-6

When we gaze on him we become like him. That’s what the world needs. It needs us to look and smell like Jesus. To be entranced, amazed, overjoyed and in love with him. Clever arguments fall to the wayside in light of his beauty. The beauty of a people in love with Him. I know I’m so far from that but it’s all I want this morning as I write this. For the church, the bride of Jesus Christ to take her eyes off of her own foibles and imperfections and look to the one who is deeply in love with her.
